St Ives Town 3-2 Deeping Rangers

OZIE Foster netted a dramatic 94th-minute penalty to snatch maximum points for 10-man St Ives Town as they came from behind to see off Deeping Rangers at Westwood Road on Saturday.

Ives had got off to the worst possible start, falling behind to Liam Harrold’s first minute goal.

But Scott Fielding equalised for St Ives after 26 minutes and, 60 seconds later, former Rangers favourite Dan Matson added a second to turn the game on its head.

The pendulum appeared to be swinging back Deeping’s way as, after Matt Heron equalised on the hour, another former Rangers player - John-Paul Duncliffe - was sent off after a poorly timed tackle.

With the contest heading for stalemate, Foster’s spot kick in the fourth minute of added time proved decisive.

Ives manager Jez Hall said: “The game had everything really.

“It’s nice that we’re starting to score some goals now too when we’re on top in games, which is a major thing really.

“Even though we’ve had a somewhat indifferent start, we need to be looking to push on and get up around the top eight.”

The result followed last Tuesday’s 5-3 league defeat at Newport Pagnell Town when a goal from Nick Cade and a late brace from Fielding gave the final scoreline some respectability.

Next up for Ives are back-to-back fixtures against the two promoted sides - with a trip to fifth-placed Peterborough Northern Star on Saturday before a home fixture with fourth-placed Irchester on Tuesday.
