ST IVES' young swimmers came tantalisingly close to pulling off an outstanding win in the latest round of the Anglian league on Saturday.
Despite a slow start at the Downham Market venue, St Ives turned in a series of first place swims to reverse their fortunes.
Top swimmers were Carl Johnson, 11, and Catherine Pritchard, 14, who finished with two wins each.
There were also victories for Emily Banks, Stacey Brice, Stephen Hayward, Thomas Loia, Tom Pritchard, Chloe Solomou, Jessica Toye, Andrew Weatheritt and Emily Whiles.
Although just missing out on the win, the coaches were delighted by the overall level of performance especially when considering that many of the club's swimmers achieved excellent placings despite swimming up an age group.
