St Neots racer Andy Sawford enjoyed a fine start to the HEL Performance Motostar British Championship over the Easter weekend.

Sawford shot to the top of the 125cc class standings after two fine outings in the curtain-raiser at the Donington Park circuit in Leicestershire.

The 36 year old, making his debut in the series, took the chequered flag in the first of two races over the weekend and also clocked the fastest lap in a time of 1:43.82.

And the St Neots Motorcyle Co Ltd rider impressed again in the second race when taking second position in his class behind winner Josh Owens.

The second round of the championship is to be staged at Brands Hatch on Sunday, April 19.
