ST NEOTS Town have again made use of their close links with Dagenham & Redbridge, with the arrival on loan of promising youngster Duran Reynolds at The Hunts Post Community Stadium.

He had shown Saints fans what he was capable of during the two clubs’ pre-season friendly, scoring with a 25-yard drive, and he made his debut in St Neots’ 4-2 win over Beaconsfield on Saturday.

The 19-year-old, right, was unveiled as the latest addition to the Saints squad, and will offer much-needed cover at left-back following the departure of David Cobb and the loss of Theo Davis to long-term injury.

Neots manager Dennis Greene confessed he had not seen much of his new signing prior to his arrival but firmly expects him to be a success at the club.

Greene said: “He scored the goal against us when they visited in pre-season, and we’re expecting him to settle in quickly and play his part in our season.

“Given that he’s signed for a League Two club on a three-year deal, you’d like to hope he’s good enough to play at Step 4,” said Greene who, along with assistant Tony Scully, is a former Daggers player.

Reynolds is contracted to the Daggers until 2013 and the Saints hope he will have the same impact as Ian Gayle, who came to the club on a similar deal last season.

Reynolds has spent time in the youth ranks of Peterborough United, Cambridge United and Histon, and had two years at Southend United after turning professional.

He spent the second half of the 2009/10 season at Grays Athletic and was loaned back there after signing for the Daggers last summer, making 14 appearances in 2010/11.

Greene said: “He did well at the weekend but we will find out more about him in the coming weeks.

“We’ve got him on loan for a month, with a view to extending the deal beyond that if it works out.”

The Saints have also revealed details of an innovative link-up with the recently-formed AFC Rushden & Diamonds, aimed at boosting attendances on a Saturday afternoon.

The phoenix club was formed just last month following the liquidation of Rushden & Diamonds, and they intend to enter a senior league in 2012-13.

Until then, St Neots Town will make a donation to the AFC Rushden & Diamonds club fund for every fan through the turnstiles.

St Neots Town chairman Mike Kearns said: “We have offered to help AFC Rushden & Diamonds in any way we can, and we are in open discussion with them on other ways we can help the club.

“This deal enables both clubs to benefit for the season 2011/12.”
