There was a family double in the latest round of the Eastern Regional League.
St Ives Cycling Club star Cecilia Hime produced a hot performance in bitterly cold conditions at Snetterton to triumph in the Junior Female section. She was also the fastest female rider on show in any category at the Norfolk venue.
And Hime’s father, Simon, made it a day to remember when taking glory in the Veteran 50+ bracket. Hime snr represents Finchley Racing Team, but it a second claim member at St Ives.
Ruby O’Dell also produced a fine ride for St Ives when third in the Under 10 Girls race, while Dominic Pauley (Under 12 Boys), Orla Kenna (Under 12 Girls), Beatrice Pauley (Under 14 Girls) and Sam Trotter (Under 16 Boys) just missed out on podium finishes when finished fourth in their respective age groups.
Nathan Gibson (eighth, Junior Male), Samuel Smith (10th, Under 10 Boys), Ollie Maynard (12th, Under 16 Boys), Mick Curtis (44th, Veteran 50+) and Nick Smith (retired, Veteran 40+) also represented the local club.
