RICHARD Ostler eased home ahead of St Neots Cycling Club team-mate Tim Pennell for the second race in succession at the club’s Thursday night time trials.

In very warm conditions, times around the 11.2-mile Abbotsley were slightly down on those recorded two weeks previously when many riders clocked their season’s best times.

On Thursday, Ostler crossed the line in 28mins 49secs, some 30 seconds slower than his previous outing. Pennell found the conditions less to his liking and was nearly a full minute slower than before. Ian Stokes, a guest rider from North Bucks RC, took a creditable third only 10 seconds behind Pennell.

The club is holding a double circuit event on Sunday, which starts at 2pm. The event starts approximately a mile east of Abbotsley and guest riders and spectators are encouraged to attend. For other cyclists looking for a challenge, St Neots CC events continue on Thursday evenings throughout the summer.
