SENIOR Cup football action saw two first round matches both go the way of Peterborough Premier League clubs.
In the derby match at Somersham, visiting Ramsey took a 2-1 win, but Alconbury needed extra time to win through 5-2 against Eaton Socon.
In the Junior Cup, Godmanchester Rovers Reserves won a close game against Farcet 3-2, while in the Benevolent Cup St Neots Reserves eased home 4-0 against Eaton Socon Reserves.
In the Cambs Creake Shield, Buckden saw off Bluntisham Rangers 3-2 and Fenstanton came good in extra time against Wisbech St Mary to win 6-3.
In Cambs Senior A, Needingworth’s journey to Milton was fruitless as they lost 3-1, while Brampton went down 4-2 at Wisbech.
Great Paxton turned on the style in Senior B with a 5-1 win at West Wratting.
In BIS 1B, St Ives Rangers won 3-0 at home to Haddenham, Somersham Reserves beat Hemingford 2-1 and Huntingdon RGE were beaten 4-3 at March.
In Peterborough One, Sawtry secured a 5-2 home win over Long Sutton but Warboys’ plight got no better as they got a 4-0 hiding at Powerleague FC.
Hartford Sun FC were edged out 4-3 at against Werrington in Division Two.
However, there was good news for Alconbury Reserves, who bagged their first win in nine starts with a 1-0 success against Ramsey Reserves.
