There was success for schools from St Neots and St Ives at the annual Quadkids Athletics Competition recently.
More than 450 Year 5 and Year 6 pupils from 23 local primary schools took part in the The Hunts School Sports Partnership event at the One Leisure Outdoor Centre in St Ives.
It featured four events – 600m run, 75m sprint, vortex throw and standing long jump – for teams made up of four girls and four boys.
Crosshall Junior School, from St Neots, triumphed in the Large School Competition – for schools with at least 120 students in Key Stage 2. Brampton Village Primary were runners-up with Buckden C of E Primary in third place.
The Small School Competition honours went to St Ives courtesy of a fine performance from Holywell C of E Primary School. Spaldwick Community Primary finished second with Wyton on the Hill Community Primary taking third place.
The top two in each competition will now represent Hunts at county level tomorrow (Thursday).
The event was supported by sports leaders from local secondary schools. Pupils from St Ivo, St Peter’s and Hinchingbrooke joined adult volunteers to provide encouragement and assistance to the children taking part.
