ENGLAND'S recent Ashes victory captured the public's imagination, yet a dearth of umpires is presenting a problem.
This is particularly acute in Cambridgeshire, where Hedley Swannell, Hunts League chairman, and Keith Coburn, Cambs League chairman, predict that within five years the Tucker Division One and Two games will be played without umpires unless recruitment improves.
Umpire courses are available in Huntingdon and elsewhere in Cambridgeshire, and qualifying is now much easier than it has been in the past.
