Luke Ashwell really did feel at home when starring for Hunts Under 11s last Wednesday.

Ashwell produced a stunning spell of bowling to claim 5-8 as the local lads beat Bedfordshire by two wickets at Eaton Socon – the venue where he plays his club cricket - in sweltering conditions.

Jairus Charles and Divyeash Vaseeharan took two wickets apiece as Bedfordshire were dismissed for just 85, but Hunts didn’t find it easy to pass that tally. Vaseeharan top-scored with 20.

It was a different story at Under 10 level, where Hunts went down to Beds by five wickets last Sunday. That was despite a half-century from Harry Gilman, who’s fine 53 provided more than half of Hunts’ total of 103.

Michael Speed top-scored with 40 as Hunts Under 17s came up 60 runs short against Cambs last Sunday.

Josh Smith (3-31) and James Taylor (3-34) helped restrict Cambs to 233-9, but Hunts could only muster 173 in reply.
