Hunts Under 25s saw their hopes of claiming an impressive scalp ended by the weather.

The local side had unbeaten title-chasers Bedfordshire in big trouble at 66-4 when their final East of England Development Competition fixture of the summer was abandoned on Wednesday.

Constant drizzle meant only 20 overs were possible at Bedford, although the Hunts bowlers certainly impressed during that time.

Waresley’s overseas ace Michael Ninneman claimed two wickets in as many balls as he finished with 2-21.

Fellow opening bowler, Lawrie Marsh of Buckden, also grabbed a wicket. That was his seventh in the competition this summer – a tally matched by Josh Smith.

Both victories were gained on the road at Essex and Suffolk, while the defeats came in home games against Norfolk and Cambridgeshire.
