It was two in a row for the Under 15 Hunts County Girls cricket team as they won their group for a second successive season.

The team has taken on – and beaten – sides from Northamptonshire, Leicestershire, Norfolk and Cambridgeshire on their way to glory.

Coach Lee Smith said: “The girls played fantastically well all year and the achievement for a small county like ourselves to win our group for a second successive season was huge.

“We built on the success of being National Development Champions in 2013 with our performances improving each game and applying ourselves to the challenges of county cricket. The only blip came against Suffolk with a number of players unavailable due to our commitments with the England women’s development programme and general absences.

“I’m thoroughly looking forward to what the 2015 season holds.”

The season’s results were: Six-wicket win against Cambridgeshire; three-wicket win against Leicestershire; 10-wicket loss to Suffolk; 82-run win against Lincolnshire; a 40-run win against Northamptonshire; and a four-wicket win against Norfolk.
