Huntingdon and District produced a dominant performance with bat and ball to brush past Nassington II in the Hunts County Bats Division One on Saturday.

Half centuries from Andrew Wright (57) and Kharqan Arsal (64) fired Huntingdon to an impressive 226-8 from their 45 overs.

In reply, Nassington II never looked like threatening the total they’d been set and two wickets apiece for Nomi Khan, Khaqan Arsal, Navid Ahmed and Zeeshan Islam reduced them to 114 all out.

Eaton Socon II picked up only their second win of the season, with a 59-run victory over Southill Park. After losing an early wicket, a second wicket partnership of 100 between captain Simon Cooper (76) and Matt Rawling (49) helped Eaton to post 195-8.

David Harris and Cameron McCaig took three wickets each as Southill fell well short of the target as they were dismissed for 137.

In Division Two, Waresley II climbed to the summit of the table after seeing off AK.

Some solid bowling meant their opponents were all out for 147. Waresley were struggling at 81-6 before a 67-run partnership between Owen Griffiths (26no) and Jim Keys 30(no) steered them to a four wicket victory.

Alconbury remained at the foot of the table after a 31-run defeat to Peterborough III.

Three wickets each for Gary Cole and Richard Ewing combined to breeze through the lower order and restrict Peterborough to 187. Alconbury made a strong start, with Riaz Anjum (31) and Cameron Brown (46) putting them in a good position to potentially secure only their third win of the season.

But much like Peterborough, once the top order were gone there were no meaningful contributions and Alconbury laboured to 156 all out.

Upwood continue to prop up Division Three due to a heavy defeat at the hands of Cople. Despite a sterling effort from David Drage (5-39), Cople batted their way to 213 for the loss of eight wickets.

Drage (41) and Zac Stevens (51) offered some resistance with the bat, but it wasn’t nearly enough as Alex Levene (6-40) tore through them to leave Upwood all out for 135.

Adam Hyde’s wickets and a knock of 92 from Liam Gaynor helped Warboys II comfortably see off the challenge of Newborough II.

Backed up by some solid bowling, Hyde took five wickets as Newborough were dismissed for 148. Gaynor anchored the innings and ensured Warboys reached their target with six wickets to spare.

In Division Four, Warboys III and Hemingford Park both suffered heavy defeats to remain near the bottom of the table.

Warboys went down by nine wickets to top of the table Biggleswade, who reached their target total of 71 in just 12.2 overs. Hemingford fared little better, they went down by eight wickets to Werrington. Batting first Hemingford relied heavily on Jeremy Burrows (41no) but could still only muster a score of 61. Werrington wasted little time in chasing down the total, winning in just 8.3 overs for the loss of two wickets.

There were no results in Division Five on Sunday as the weather intervened.
