Eaton Socon celebrated Cambs & Hunts Premier League success on an afternoon when they were staring at defeat.
Jonny Carpenter’s men saw off Nassington by 131 runs in a Whiting & Partners Division One clash - despite having slumped to 66-7 at one stage.
They recovered to reach 212 thanks to some solid contributions from the lower order. Their final four batsmen – Adam White (35), Matthew Taylor (31), Joe Watling (29) and Adam Newman (21no) – were also their four highest-scorers.
And Newman, in particular, went on to excel with the ball, taking 5-18 as Nassington were skittled for just 81.
Eaton Socon were the only local outfit to triumph on an afternoon when all four other Huntingdonshire sides suffered defeat.
Waresley came up just short as they were beaten by a March side, who climbed off the bottom of the table in the process.
Alex Scully top-scored with 72 as Waresley finished on 234-9 – just seven runs short of the 241-6 of the home side.

Charlie Lewis (39) and Dominic Farr (36) were other solid contributors to the Waresley cause.
St Ives replaced March at the foot of the standings as their tough return to Division One cricket continued.
Ricky Greiller’s side were thumped by 173 runs by title-chasers Wisbech as they crashed to a fourth successive defeat.
Shaun Asplin, Michael Speed and Murray Reid claimed two wickets apiece as Wisbech piled up 304-9 before St Ives were removed for 131.
Godmanchester had a fruitless chase as they went down by 42 runs short at reigning champions Foxton despite a half-century from Adam Cousins.
He hit 55 and Elliot Baldwin added 33 as Godmanchester finished on 154-9 in pursuit of their hosts’ offering of 196-8. Baldwin earlier took 3-30.
Ramsey were left in a spin by leaders Ketton.
Michael Cafferkey’s men were dismissed for just 84 – half of the tally managed by their hosts. All 10 Ramsey wickets fell to slow bowling.
Kimbolton extended their winning start to the Whiting & Partners Division Two season to four matches.
James Biddle’s side eased to a seven-wicket success at Saffron Walden 2nds as they comfortably eclipsed their hosts’ score of 221-6.
South African ace Jason Redinger finished unbeaten on 69 while skipper Biddle was dismissed for the same score.
Huntingdon & District are also enjoying a pleasing opening few weeks to the season.
They claimed a third win of 2017 when prevailing by 35 runs at Cambridge St Giles.
Asif Khan hit a fine 83 in a tally of 244 before overseas player Graham Hudson returned his best figures on these shores with 4-32.
Warboys’ tough start to the season took a turn for the worse when they failed to fulfil a trip to Burwell 2nds.
Warboys, who were already bottom of the table after being beaten in their first three games of the season, have been hit with a 50-point deduction which leaves them 89 points from safety.
