Club legend Nomi Khan celebrated the best figures of his long Huntingdon & District career as they claimed a quick slice of Cambs & Hunts Premier League revenge yesterday.
The 42 year-old seam bowler, who has represented the town club for more than 20 years, swooped for 7-18 in a resounding Whiting & Partners Division Two victory against Ufford Park.
Huntingdon & District prevailed by 152 runs at St Peters Road only a week after being beaten in the reverse fixture. They dismissed the visitors for 89 with the final eight wickets falling for the addition of just 11 runs.
Craig Leigh’s men earlier piled up 241-8 as Amir Sidiqkhil marked a return to the top of the order with a smart 86, while the skipper contributed a season’s best of 45.
Huntingdon & District remain in the thick of a promotion race currently being headed by Kimbolton.
The table-toppers beat Blunham for the second successive Saturday when successfully defending a tally of 209, which featured 94 from South African ace JasoN Redinger.
James Biddle’s side then dismissed the visitors for 173 to triumph by 36 runs - a fine effort considering Blunham were 89-0 at one stage. Martin Moore was the pick of the Kimbolton bowlers with 4-30.
Basement boys Warboys went down by five wickets at Castor & Ailsworth after being skittled for just 47.
Ramsey made short work of seeing off Eaton Socon in a Whiting & Partners Division One clash.
They dismissed their hosts for just 73 before needing less than 10 overs to breeze to an eight-wicket victory.
Taylor West was the chief tormentor with the ball as he bagged 4-16, while Mark Edwards claimed 3-19.
Only four Eaton Socon batsmen reached double-figures with a modest 16 earning Dan Wood the dubious honour of being their highest scorer.
Jordon Cafferkey led Ramsey’s rapid charge to victory with the bat courtesy of an unbeaten 44.
Another all-local affair was settled in the final over as Godmanchester Town held on by nine runs against Waresley.
Amir Gupta top-scored on 79 as Town posted 208-7 before Tariq Aziz took 3-40 as Waresley were dismissed for 199.
Bottom side St Ives slipped to another defeat despite the best efforts of Nikhil Kumpukkal.
He followed up a fine haul of 5-31 with a top-scoring contribution of 31 in a 92-run reverse at Nassington.
The hosts amassed 211-7 but St Ives were removed for 119 in reply.
