UCL Division One

Olney Town 5-0 Huntingdon Town

HUNTINGDON manager Al Lenihan was downbeat after his side were crushed by table-toppers Olney on Saturday.

Stewart Allan’s four-goal salvo inspired the Nurserymen to their biggest win of the season and was the visitors’ second straight defeat on the road in the league in the space of four days – having gone down 2-0 at Bourne last Tuesday.

Lenihan said: “Some crazy defending and mad refereeing killed this game for us.

“Having six regulars missing didn’t help matters but we only have the Hunts Senior Cup to compete for now.”

Allan opened the scoring six minutes in and the pacesetters had to wait until the dying seconds of the first half to double their lead through Matthew Old.

Huntingdon had Ryan Spencer dismissed for his attempt to handle on the line in the lead up to it, but a goal was given rather than a penalty.

Allan scored his second goal after 66 minutes – then completed his hat-trick six minutes later – before rounding things off two minutes from time.

Last night, Lenihan’s side were scheduled to be back in action at home against second from bottom Northampton ON Chenecks and, this weekend, visit third-placed Thrapston.

n St Ives Town are set to return to UCL Premier Division action this evening (Wednesday) when they make the trip to Daventry United, before hosting struggling Raunds on Saturday. Ives’ scheduled rearranged weekend fixture at Long Buckby was postponed.
