SIX members of Hunts Athletics Club have been selected for the Cambridgeshire County Schools Team.

The six, three from the St Ivo School, two from Hinchingbrooke School and one from Sawtry Village College, achieved the standard time in their respective events to qualify for the county side.

The Championship is to be televised across two days at the Alexander International Stadium in Birmingham this weekend.

The meeting is the major event of the year for English Schools and attracts 1,000 of the highest-performing young athletes from across the country.

The event is managed like the Olympics, with opening and closing ceremonies designed to replicate the experience of a major championships.

The six athletes are: Jonathan Edwards (hammer), Christian Roberts (400m hurdles), Paul Hayball (shot putt), Ellie Rhodes, not pictured, (triple jump), Emma Woodroffe (javelin) and Gian Zicchi (100m).
