COLTS ROUND-UP: Skipper Shorrock leads the way

BUCKDEN

CAPTAIN Nathan Shorrock led from the front as his stunning six strikes inspired Buckden Black U10 to a memorable 9-1 victory at Sawtry Colts.

Further strikes from Chris Davenport, Joseph Dobos and James Titley completed the resounding win.

Jack Squire and Mack May both helped themselves to five goals, while there were also notable contributions from Lewis Taylor and Max Smalley, as Kestrels U7s went on the rampage against Sawtry.

The U11s showed resilience to recover from a goal down to defeat a strong Fenstanton outfit 2-1, Josh Tibbs and Morgan Brown striking the vital blows.

HUNTINGDON ROWDIES

A DOGGED and determined performance still could not prevent Rowdies U11s from a 4-0 reverse at Teversham.

Rowdies U13s made it through to the last 16 of the Knockout Cup for the first time thanks to a 2-1 defeat of Swavesey Spartans.

Conner Lewis scored from the spot to give Rowdies a 1-0 lead at half time before Tom Bartlett slotted in from a tight angle at the back post in the second half, rounding off an excellent team move.

PRIORY PARKSIDE

TOP of the table Newmarket proved too good for Priory U12, running out comprehensive 11-1 winners, with Alfie Bass scoring a consolation for the hosts.

Priory Park H U10s shared the points with Huntingdon Rowdies K, with Alex Harris netting their goal in a 1-1 draw.

Ellie Clark and Karli Smith were on the scoresheet in Priory Girls U13s’ 5-2 loss at Cambridge City. Millie Franklin and Emma Broome also stood out for the visitors.

A lightning quick start set Priory U9s on their way to a 6-2 victory at Sawtry Colts.

Sammy Fisher Diaz and Zac Dixon had their shooting boots on for the visitors, who stormed into a 3-0 lead inside 15 minutes and all but ended the match as a contest.

Priory U13A bounced back from a heavy cup defeat last week with a 5-2 win at Ely Crusaders.

Matthew Greenland (2), Jordon Brown, Ben Melrose and Reece Keating all had their shooting boots on.

LITTLE PAXTON

A FOUR-GOAL salvo from Yoni Anish inspired Paxton U8s to a thrilling 7-5 victory over Somersham Black.

Jamie Peters, Ben Hansford and Jack Course also scored for the winners, who had been 4-1 down at one stage.

GODMANCHESTER ROVERS

GODDY U14A were unable to break down a rock solid Chatteris backline, eventually going down 4-0.

The U13A side racked up double figures, beating Cherry Hinton Lions 10-0.

Ben Keating and Will Taylor both bagged a brace while Lee Collings, Ashley Hehir, Greg Goodwin, Callum Brown and Cameron Corden were also on target.

Rovers’ U9 B team remain unbeaten in 2011 after another convincing performance. Goals from Lawrence Hammond, Casey Fitzgerald and Ella Burnley saw off Buckden 3-1.

Adam Hunt and Ollie Pocklington found the net for Rovers U10s who defeated a spirited Alconbury Colts Red outfit 2-0.

Adam Hawthorn scored four goals as Goddy’s U16B team overcame a dogged Lt Paxton side 5-1, Ben Abthorpe also scoring.

Goddy Rovers U14B defeated Walden Wanderers 5-1, Matthew Pates hitting a hat-trick with Nathan Storey and Ashley Humphrey notching solo efforts.

Elsewhere, Rowan Chapman helped himself to five goals as rampant Rovers U11 battered Newmarket B 15-2.

Also on the scoresheet were Cameron Markie (3), Dawid Kwiatkowski, Josh Bavester (3), birthday boy Callum Alexander and David Mottershead.

HEMINGFORD

JAMES Janvier struck late on to seal an entertaining 4-3 victory for Hemingford U16s over local rivals Great Paxton.

A touch of brilliance from Jose Bradshaw, a second goal for Janvier and a coolly taken penalty from Joshua Fitzjohn were the other highlights.

Strikes from Tom Lynn, Robert McCrossan and Bertie Kemp saw Hemingford U10s ease to a 3-0 friendly win against Somersham Black.

ST NEOTS

A BOGGY pitch did not deter Neots U12s as they ran out 7-1 winners in their cup match at Bishops Stortford.

Alex O’Hara’s fantastic four led the way, Cameron Stump chipped in with two more and Rob Willard put the icing on the cake.

St Neots Town Youth Blues U11s suffered a 3-0 defeat at Baldock Town Templars.

A poor start left Neots’ U14s with too big a mountain to climb as they slipped to a 4-2 reverse at home against Letchworth.

Alfie Judd and Jay Lambert registered in the scoring column for the losers.

RAMSEY COLTS

AN excellent team performance and goals from Kyle Rudland, Josh France, Aidan Seabridge, Ketan Gardner and Aidan Godwin sent Ramsey U9A to a 5-0 success against Warboys.

It wasn’t such a good day for the U11s, who went down heavily 6-0 at home against March Soccer School.

Although goals from debutant Matt Worrall and Elliott Cafferkey – in between one from Christian Duddridge - guided Ramsey U16s to a 2-1 win on the road at Priory Parkside.

NEEDINGWORTH COLTS

BANG in form Matty Galpin was once again among the goals - but not even his quadruple could stop Needingworth U9 from a 6-4 defeat at Buckden Junior Hawks.

After five straight wins and 110 minutes without conceding a goal, the wheels finally came off for the Colts Blue U12s, who went down 2-0 at home against Haverhill Rovers.

In other action, Zac Hope scored the winner for Needingworth U8s who came from behind to narrowly edge out St Ives Rangers 2-1, Braydon Cobb got the other goal.

A brace from Ryan Batsford helped secured a 2-0 victory for Needingworth Colts U11at Brampton Spartans Red.

ALCONBURY

FIVE-STAR Alconbury Blues U9s earned an excellent 5-2 success at St Ives Rangers R.

Skipper Ben Taylor, Jack Goodway, Travis Paynter, Nico Ellul and an own goal made up their tally.

Elsewhere, the U16s came from behind twice to secure a 4-3 victory from a pulsating encounter against Stretham Sporting.

Chris Alban scored twice and there was also a goal each for Chris Lawrence and Tom Hughes,

BRAMPTON SPARTANS

SPARTANS U10s continued their recent good form with a solid performance in their 2-1 win against Bluntisham Blasters Red, Dominic Forshaw and Jordan Locke their goalscorers.

Brampton U12s, who had previously been without a win or draw all season – recorded a 4-0 victory against Godmanchester Rovers.

It was inspired by Will Dines-Allen’s treble with Adam Smith adding a penalty.

WARBOYS

HARVEY Dearlove and Dylon Harvey had their shooting boots on as Warboys Colts Black U7s saw off St Ives Rangers H - for whom George Driver scored.

KC COUGARS

SUPERB Cougars U15s stunned hosts Newmarket 4-0 in their top of the table clash with four goals coming courtesy of Josh Haynes.

ST IVES RANGERS

A BRILLIANT double from Michael Scott set the tone for Rangers U13s’ 3-0 success at the expense of Milton Colts in round two of the Knockout Cup.

Peter Masters netted the other goal, while Daniel Aves and Daffa Presetyo also stood out for the winners.

Braces from Ruben Trillo and Elliot Harris - alongside goals from William Rolt, Tommy McCarthy and Murray Reid - guided St Ives Rangers A to a comfortable 7-1 win against Lakenheath.

There were goals galore for Ives Rangers U10J who romped to a 14-0 win at Ramsey.

James Elvin (4), Amir Kamal (3), Billy Driver (3), James Lee (2), Thomas James all netted in the rout, with an own goal completing their tally.

The U12C team, meanwhile, also enjoyed a fruitful afternoon, thrashing Benwick Athletic 11-2 to make it three wins on the spin.

Jacob Textor (4) led the way with Andrew Chapman (2), George Peacock, George Parsons, Kris Atherton, Luke Halliwell and a Joe Fishburne penalty making up the scorers.

Rangers’ U14s missed out on a place in the Hunts County Cup final after a heartbreaking 4-3 semi-final defeat at the hands of Woodston Dynamo.

Bradley Smith, Scott Pepper and Kieran Price scored for Rangers but, ultimately, their efforts were in vain.

LITTLE PAXTON

GOALS from Rohan Humphrey, Luca Jim-Huttly and Kyle Gathergood were not enough to prevent Little Paxton U8s from a 5-3 defeat against KC Cougars.
