Colts Round-up: Needingworth edge out Ives in thriller

NEEDINGWORTH and St Ives C fought out a nine-goal thriller that the visiting Saints edged won 5-4.

Matty Galpin's three goals and Louis Sedgwick's strike had given the home side a 4-1 advantage but late goals caused heartbreak for Needingworth.

U9

BUCKDEN got the better of visitors Yaxley in a game full of high skills from both teams.

Buckden's scorers were Louie Spicer and Joe Brooks, who both bagged doubles, and Nathan Mills took a single as they ran out 5-1 victors.

Godmanchester surrendered a 3-1 lead to lose 5-3 against Somersham Black.

Adam Hunt, Dominic Forshaw and James Wright gave Goddy a comfortable lead but, aided by a Mark Hampson hat-trick, Blacks won the day.

There were hat-tricks for Tom Best and Oliver Taylor, doubles for Samuel Johnson, Daniel Phillips, Jack Bradshaw and one goal for Murray Christianson as Bluntisham racked up a 13-3 win against Priory.

U10

BRAMPTON Spartans Blue took a narrow 2-0 win away at Hemingford Red.

Josh Matcham netted in the first half and a long range Jacob Hughes strike in the second completed the scoring.

Ramsey B and Warboys scored eight goals between them but it was Ramsey that won the day 5-3.

Callum Robertson netted twice for the Witches and Finlay Alston bagged their third.

Hemingford Black went a goal behind to Fenstanton Red but won through 4-1 in an open game.

Luke Toates netted an equaliser just before the break and other goals came in the second half from Will Greatorex, Joe Darer and Hugo Chambers.

Good play by Brampton Red saw them earn their first win this season by 2-1 against St Neots. Will Brackley was the Brampton marksman on song with a well-taken double.

Little Paxton took the spoils in a 2-0 win against Fenstanton Blue thanks to goals from Ross King and Daniel Wood.

Despite a positive performance by Godmanchester it was Buckden Merlins who produced most of the magic to win their encounter 8-2. David Mottershead and

Rowan Chapman scored for Godmanchester.

Ramsey A took the spoils when they beat St Ives M 4-2 but needed some luck. Goals from Lewis Powell either side of the break had given St Ives a 2-1 lead but the Rams

charged back to win the match.

It was lucky 13 for Needingworth as they beat Staploe & Duloe 13-0.

Needingworth's star striker was Josh Smith with five goals, closely followed by four-goal Dan Turnbull. Ryan Batsford picked up a double and Ben Casey and Ben Page struck one each.

Alconbury's Jordan Beale celebrated his birthday in style with a hat-trick in a 9-2 win over St Ives Rangers T.

Daniel Seaman and Matthew Harvey notched two apiece and there was a goal each for Tom Brooks and Sam Carter as the home side eased to victory.

A close encounter resulted in a 2-2 draw when Rowdies entertained Somersham Orange.

Goals from Louis Stow and Cody Traywick were enough to salvage a draw for the Rowdies in a tough game.

Somersham Amber started brightly against St Ives Rangers R but failed to keep up the momentum. Rangers were 4-1 up at the break, and ran amok in the second to win the match 12-2.

Hugo Lambie led the way with four goals, Freddie Clark and Alex Waldron took two apiece and Declan Rice, Lewis Jones, Liam Pugsley and William Kershaw bagged singles.

U11

A GOAL blitz in the first half helped Priory Parkside take control of their encounter with Rowdies.

Priory led 6-1 at the interval, and though Rowdies battled back gamely, Priory ran out 7-4 winners.

The Priory goals came from Rylee Scott who bagged a hat-trick, a brace from Alfie Bass, and one each for Ollie Curliss-Ackrill and Jack Morrison. Rowdies' hat-trick hero was Jake McFarlane and Billy Jennings added the other.

Despite putting up a good fight Ramsey were beaten 11-1 by a vibrant Godmanchester outfit.

Goddy scored freely with good passing moves and top drawer finishing from Jake Bennett (5). Alfie Toseland and Jack Donnellan struck two each with Connor Rice and Toby Graham snatching singles.

Alconbury and Little Paxton fought out a 1-1 draw that both teams deserved. Paxton took an early lead but George Martin snatched the point-saver.

Stukeley Meadows played some attractive football but were unable to contain St Ives Rangers B who ran out 8-2 winners. David Hall and Jordan Thrift-Sommers netted for Meadows.

U12

BLUNTISHAM entertained Godmanchester B but failed to find the net as the visitors dominated much of the game to win 4-0.

Goddy netted three times in the first half through Matt Burgess, Alec Bryden and Max Darer and Bryden add number four in the second half.

Godmanchester A saw off a spirited Priory B 7-4 in a goal extravaganza. There was a brace apiece for strikers Ashley Hehir and Greg Goodwin and further goals from Callum Brown, Ellis Ogle and James Horrey.

Brampton and Buckden both created plenty of chances but it was Brampton who found the net easier to hit as they ran out 4-2 winners. Buckden scorers were Connor Ray and Luke Fennell.

Dalton Short, Ammar El-Gabban and Sam Oliver helped St Ives Rangers U12A bring a point home from their trip to Littleport. The home side led 3-2 but Short's equaliser saved the day.

U13

IN A hard-fought battle Priory Parkside C emerged 6-4 winners over Godmanchester B to keep up their winning run.

Peter Fenely bagged all six for Priory, while Scott Davies pulled off some stunning saves at the other end. Godmanchester battled all the way and had two goals each from Matthew Pates and Josh Stephens to show for their efforts.

St Ives Rangers B took a 7-4 win from their match against Godmanchester. Two goals apiece for Scott Pepper and Daniel Davis set the tone, and other goals came from George McCarter, Lloyd Schwier and Luke Smith.

In the all-action match, the Godmanchester strikes came via Haydon Noble, Eric Nyathi and a double from Chris Kaye.

Priory D enjoyed their awayday at Hundon Hawks coming home with a 6-0 win under their belts. Eliot Rae-Jallal, Matthew Allen, Bradley Sargeant and Alessandro Capasso netted one apiece and there was a double for Oliver Rae-Jallal.

St Neots fell to their first defeat of the season as they went down 3-1 at Bedwell Rangers.

After snatching an early lead through Charlie Willison the hosts hit back to take the lead at the break and add a third in the second half.

U14

THE Spartans triumphed against the Lions as Brampton recorded a 4-0 win at Cherry Hinton. Jake Burrill notched the first and Josh Mutter, James Thackray and Chris Parker added the rest for a comfortable win.

U15

GODMANCHESTER overcame a battling Little Paxton 11-2 to continue their good start to the season.

Henry Warren netted four with Josh Burgess bagging three. There was a double for Callum Parker and singles for Ben Watkins and Tom Hodgson.

Somersham took their first point of the season with a deserved 2-2 draw against Histon Hornets.

Harry Buckle equalised after the Hornets had taken the lead. Hornets netted their second but were stung by a second equaliser from Matt Worrall on the final whistle.

Jordon Crook scored for Rowdies at Soham but he couldn't prevent his side losing 2-1.

Priory B stayed unbeaten but had to settle for a 3-3 draw against a never-say-die Ramsey side.

Alex Bonafont opened the scoring but Priory needed goals by Christian Duddridge and Jacob Tose to regain the lead in the second half. Ramsey had the final word with an injury time equaliser.

U16

UNDER-STRENGTH Huntingdon Rowdies put up a great show against Hardwick Harriers but fell to a 9-2 defeat. Adam Naylor and Daniel Moulds netted the consolation goals for Rowdies.

U17

SOMERSHAM made sure Spartak 78 never got a look in with a fine all round team performance.

Tom Murray and Joss Chapman both scored twice and Tyler Manly netted number five in the 5-1 win.

St Neots collected the three points after an 8-2 win over Isleworth.

Isleworth led 2-1 in the first half, but Saints soon hit their stride to lead 4-2 at the break, and ran in four more in the second half as Isleworth were reduced to 10 men. St Neots' goals came from Jamie McDonald (3), Rhys Irons (2) Adam Barnett (2) and Dan Birkinshaw.
