BRAMPTON Spartans lifted the Godmanchester U13 six-a-side tournament to cap a superb year for the team.

Wins against Sawtry, hosts Godmanchester and Rowdies along with three draws against Warboys, Cambourne and Bedwell sent the Spartans into a semi-final tie against Cambourne. Spartans upped their game and took their place in the final after a 3-0 win. The final against Priory Parkside A saw Spartans at their best as they ran out 6-1 winners, though Priory were not helped by an arm injury to keeper Tom Meech which required hospital treatment.

The U10 six-a-side tournament was also a triumph for the Spartans outfit as the Blues lifted the trophy and the Reds put in some excellent performances. Blues took group wins against Alconbury and Bluntisham, as well as draws against St Ives Red and Priory L, giving them a place in the semi finals. The semi final against St Ives S was a tense affair which was won by a golden goal scored by Tom Snare. In the final against Priory L, Spartans held control and ran out 3-0 winners after a double by Snare and a Rhys Everett strike.

Reds had tough group games but managed a draw against Stukeley Meadows but were narrowly beaten by Godmanchester Yellow and Milton.

In the U10A league St Ives Reds and Priory Parkside C displayed no end of season blues as they played out an entertaining seven goal thriller. Reds had the better of the first half and netted four goals through Tom McCarthy and Will Rolt, who took a brace apiece. The half time break brought a change in fortunes for Priory as they stormed back. Three second half strikes saw Reds hanging on to their slender advantage at the final whistle.
