The best of the weekend’s action from the Huntingdonshire junior football scene

ST IVES RANGERS

RANGERS U14s are through to the Cambs and District Colts League Cup final following a 4-2 victory over nine-man Cherry Hinton Lions in their semi-final on Sunday.

The visitors - who only managed to field 10 players and then lost another to injury after just five minutes - took a surprise lead, before Scott Pepper levelled things up before half time.

And strikes from Kieran Price, Michael King and Harry McGreggor in the second period left the marooned Lions tamed.

Meanwhile, a second half leveller from James Porter cancelled out Aaron Aina’s opener in the first period as Rangers U11R were held to a 1-1 draw by Hemingford Juniors Red.

PRIORY PARKSIDE

DOM Smith scored a hat-trick while Sam Pritchard grabbed two more as Priory U14s ran out 5-1 winners over a spirited Ely City Colts outfit.

Priory’s U13A side were beaten 4-3 at home by Haverhill Rovers, but considered themselves a little unfortunate not to have taken anything from the game – despite only fielding nine players.

Having been 3-0 down the break, goals from Ryan Galbraith (2) and Rowan Irvine almost sparked a remarkable recovery from Priory.

NEEDINGWORTH COLTS

A HAT-TRICK from Campbell Strong inspired Needingworth U11s to an 8-2 defeat of Buckden.

Benjamin Casey and Josh Smith bagged a brace apiece and Ryan Batsford also got himself on the scoresheet.

Needingworth Blue U12 were 4-1 winners at Walpole Warriors in a game they dominated from start to finish.

Thomas Jakes, Adam Parr, Tom Evans and Callum Sheppeard were the Blue marksmen.

HUNTINGDON ROWDIES

A WEAKENED Rowdies U13 team were on the wrong end of a 7-2 scoreline at the hands of Newmarket.

It started so well for the visitors, who were 2-1 up at one stage thanks to goals from Tom Bartlett and Damo Parak, while Josh Furnell’s goalbound 30-yard effort was pushed on to the crossbar by the excellent Newmarket keeper.

The hosts drew level before the break and ran riot in the second half with an extra man advantage.

Rowdies U11s went nap against Godmanchester, with Joseph Brown, Ethan Parr (2), Adam Giller and Cody Traywick scoring in a 5-0 win.

Elsewhere Jake McFarlane and Ben Hurst scored two a piece as Rowdies U12s beat Haverhill 4-2 at Jubilee Park.

ST NEOTS

DESPITE putting in their best performance of the season, St Neots U14s were cruelly denied 4-3 by Baldock in the League Cup with the winner coming in the third minute of added time.

Shai Delamare, Lewis Davis and Ryan Vale – from the penalty spot – had put Neots 3-1 ahead, but Baldock hit back to steal a pulsating cup tie and followed on from two heavy league wins earlier in the season.

HEMINGFORD JUNIORS

HUGO Chambers and Jaden Rogers scored in consolation for Hemingford Juniors U10s as they went down to a 7-2 friendly defeat against Buckden Whites.

Louis Spicer (4), Joe Brooks (2) and Adam Brown all had their shooting boots on for Buckden.

RAMSEY COLTS

RAMS U13s lost 3-1 against Teversham, with Connor Beaumont netting their solitary goal.

The U15s fared better with Gage Webb, Bradley Maher, Jake Temple and Jake Galloway (2) netting in a 5-0 success over Chatteris Town.

Meanwhile Matt Worrall and Elliott Cafferkey scored in consolation for Ramsey’s U16s who suffered a 4-2 defeat at the hands of Benwick.

GODMANCHESTER ROVERS

GODDY’S U14A side recovered from 2-0 down before eventually going on to beat Withersfield 6-2 in a high-tempo match.

Sean Olley (3), Eric Nyathi, Chris Kaye and Danny Mulgrew all got themselves on the scoresheet.

DULOE & STAPLOE

IN-FORM Duloe U10s are now unbeaten in their last five games following a 4-1 win at Somersham, Ben Abbotts scoring all four goals for Duloe.

Jack Lynch’s star man show from midfield was almost capped with a memorable goal from inside his own half.

A superb all-round display set the tone for Duloe U11s as they defeated St Ives Rangers T 9-1.

George Barker, Callum Fielding, Morris Seaton and Liam Davis all inspired the romp.

WARBOYS COLTS

WARBOYS U10 were involved in a battling 2-2 draw with Huntingdon Rowdies.

Harry England and Ellis Ball found the net for Warboys, but they were pegged back twice with all four goals coming in the first half.

Freddie Francis and an own goal made up the Rowdies goal double.

In other action, Harvey Dearlove added to his scoring tally with four goals in Warboys Colts U7s’ game against Alconbury - in which Alfie Canning also scored twice.
