GYMNASTS from Huntingdon Olympic Gym competed in the London Open at Dagenham at the weekend, performing well to take three top-10 placings overall. Cameron Mackenzie, 13, completed six excellent routines to register a score of 78.250. Mackenzie came fourth, missing out on a bronze medal by 0.05. Max Bennett, also 13, came close behind with a score of 77.650, giving him fifth place. Alex Brailsford, 12, came a creditable 10th out of 40 competitors. Four club members also competed the previous weekend in the National Development Plan Finals at Newcastle. Ryan Dearlove and Joshua Goddard, both 12, William Mas, eight, and Jack Webb, nine, were competing in their first major event, and all did well. Ryan narrowly missed out on a National squad placement, but new recruit William made the NDP National squad for the Primary 4 age group.
