There was some success at last for the players of St Neots & District Chess Club's B team.
Visitors Perkins Bishops were no match for their rivals from down the A1, with St Neots 3.5-0.5 victors. Raymon Gompelman, Miles Barker and Tim Cleary all secured wins with Steve Foster claiming the draw on the top board.
The win lifts St Neots off the bottom of the table for the first time. They have four games left, starting with a tough visit to leaders Gunthorpe and Paston on Tuesday March 6.
