Charlotte Boston and her brother Harry have both successfully defended their Cambridgeshire Schools Table Tennis Championship titles and the St Neots siblings will once again represent the county on the national stage.

Charlotte Boston, a 13-year-old pupil from Longsands Academy, won the under-16s title at the Coleridge Road Academy in Cambridge and will now go to the Butterfly Individual Schools Championships in Doncaster in April to compete against some of the very best players in country. There, she will be joined by nine-year-old Crosshall Junior School pupil Harry Boston, who won the Primary Schools title. Harry Boston is the youngest member of St Neots Table Tennis Club where the pair train, sometimes up to five times a week.

Charlotte Boston told The Hunts Post: “I really love playing table tennis and meeting new friends – as well as it being enjoyable, it also keeps me fit. Harry and I also have a fitness plan we follow when not playing table tennis and in the future I hope to continue to win more trophies and medals and fulfil my aim of becoming a PE teacher and playing for my university.”

Her younger brother is just as ambitious. “I really hope to play for England by the time I am 16,” he said.

Mum, 41-year-old Jo Boston, said: “I am very proud of the commitment both Charlotte and Harry have to this sport. I used to play for the county as a junior but was never anywhere near as good as they are.

“I will not be challenging them to a match anytime soon.”

Dad, Toby Boston, also 41, said: “We travel miles most weekends for competitions and training camps and. I love to see them play their hearts out – but it can be very nail biting for us watchers.”
