CRICKET legends are to do battle with the world's No.1 celebrity cricket team in Alconbury later this month.

Lashings World XI, featuring former West Indies star Richie Richardson, Australian Greg Blewett and New Zealand's Chris Harris will do battle with The Bunburys to raise money for learning disability charity MENCAP.

The Bunburys will be led by their founding member David English, who has been bringing the club to Alconbury for around 10 years.

The team will feature Huntingdon's Charlotte Edwards, captain of the England womens cricket team, one of Britain's most successful swimmers, Mark Foster, former boxing World Champion Lloyd Honeyghan, Eastenders actor Rudolph Walker and former Stranglers front-man Hugh Cornwell.

Dame Norma Major, wife of former Prime Minister John Major, will be a special guest.

Local disabled team, Hunts Howzats Cricket Club, have been invited to attend and anyone that would like to find out more about the club will be able to speak to them on the day.

The match will take place at Alconbury Recreation Field on Friday, June 22. Gates open at noon and the cricket starts at 2.30pm.
