HUNTINGDONSHIRE U17 captain Jon Carpenter was part of the London and East team that lifted the Terry Bates Memorial Shield at Loughborough.

The ECB U16 Regional Festival was contested by the four ECB regions, with Carpenter helping London and East win all three games. The highlight of the Eaton Socon man's tournament came with his knock of 73 against South and West.

The festival was the result of many months of hard work for Carpenter, as he worked through a gruelling trials process to be selected. He has also spent the last two winters undergoing coaching at Leicestershire CCC as part of the Huntingdonshire Emerging Players Programme.

Hunts U17 coach David Summers said: "It was great for Hunts to have Jon playing at this elite level. He played against young cricketers from many of the first class counties and really performed well.
