The bottom side ended their long wait for a win when triumphing by 15 runs at Histon last Saturday.

Captain Jason Redinger top-scored with 80 and Lee Ingram added a valuable 48no as Kimbolton reached 217-8 – a tally which proved to be beyond their hosts.

Histon were dismissed for 202 with veteran bowler Martyn Moore bagging 3-22 while Ingram and Redinger claimed a couple of wickets apiece.

And while Kimbolton remain at the foot of the top-flight standings, they have closed to within five points of another set of struggling locals.

Waresley remain in relegation trouble after going down by 117 runs at Wisbech – their sixth successive defeat.

They were dismissed for 124 after the Fenland hosts piled up 241-9. Terry Hayden (3-26) and Rob Lowin (3-43) bowled well for Waresley.

Eaton Socon were victorious against Godmanchester Town in a clash of the two leading local teams at Division One level.

Jonny Carpenter’s side triumphed thanks to a superior run rate as heavy rain forced an early finish at Peppercorn Lane.

A smart 72 from Jamie Vale and opener Matt Pateman’s 50 (those two men put on 111 for the second wicket) along with a quickfire 46 (from just 25 balls) by Wade Lezar helped hosts Eaton Socon reach 256-9 despite the efforts of Paul Swannell (4-58) and Amit Gupta (3-41).

Godmanchester had progressed to 112-4 when their innings was halted after 23 overs with Gupta having contributed 43 and Matthew Anscomb unbeaten on 38, but they were six runs short of Eaton Socon at the equivalent stage of their innings.

The win snapped a run of three defeats for Eaton Socon and keeps them in title contention. They sit 31 points behind table-toppers Saffron Walden but boast a game in hand.

Ramsey fell to a 79-run loss at the hands of Foxton at Cricketfield Lane. They were dismissed for 131 while chasing the visitors’ posting of 210-9.

Dave Carlaw (3-24) and Michael Cafferkey (3-56) bowled well for the locals but only captain Cafferkey managed more than 20 runs on a difficult afternoon with the bat.

St Ives continued their Whiting & Partners Division Two title challenge with a Saturday success, but Huntingdon & District fell away following defeat.

Second-placed St Ives saw off Saffron Walden 2nds by 51 runs at the One Leisure Outdoor Centre.

Skipper Jack Haycock led the way with 79 as they piled up 238-7. Haycock featured in a 106-run opening stand with youngster Jack Ranganathan (31).

Richard Greiller also added a valuable 40 before Sam Buck (3-45) led the St Ives bowling effort as they removed their visitors for 187. Kevin Sequenza, Shaun Asplin and Nick Kumpukkal all took two wickets.

Huntingdon & District were beaten by another title-chasing team. They went down by 119 runs to Cambridge St Giles at St Peters Road.

The away side amassed an imposing 256-4 before Huntingdon & District mis-fired in reply when being removed for 137. Opener Sheraz Ali (41) was their highest scorer.
