ENGLAND cricketers will star on Sunday as England captain Charlotte Edwards hosts two Twenty20 fixtures at Ramsey. England's new spin hero Monty Panesar will be the main attraction and he'll be joined by England caps Nick Knight, Anthony McGrath and Darren Maddy. Huntingdon-born Edwards, who recently captained her country to a 4-0 one-day series win against India, said: "I wanted to do something to raise money for the nurses funded by Macmillan Cancer Relief, who helped my father through his illness until he passed away in March. "The best way for me to do this was to organise a celebrity cricket match - something which is close to my heart and to Dad's. We're hoping to raise a lot of money for a worthwhile cause and I'm really grateful to everyone who has agreed to come and play." Meanwhile a 15-year-old cricket fanatic has paid £200 to play with the England Women's team on the day. Natalie Cowan, who captained Cambridgeshire U15s this year, persuaded her parents to stump up the cash to give her the chance to play alongside her heroes. Natalie, who plays as a wicketkeeper and has played senior men's cricket with Longstanton, has also shown worth with the bat, recording impressive totals. Edwards said: "Natalie is a very promising cricketer and I'm sure this will be a fantastic experience for her. Everyone is looking forward to the day and we hope we can make it a special one for Natalie to remember." The first game starts at 10.30am, followed by a two-hour lunch break including an auction of cricketing memorabilia. The second game will start at 3pm. Everyone is welcome to attend what looks sure to be a fantastic day's cricket. Tickets are available on the day and are priced at £5 for adults, £2.50 for U16s and concessions.
