St Ives Ladies signed off for their winter break in familiar fashion.

All three of their female sides completed the first half of the East Women’s League campaign in winning style to maintain their respective promotion challenges.

The table-topping 1sts extended their unbeaten record to 12 games in Division Two North-West with a 3-0 success against Cambridge Nomads. Captain Helen Clarke struck twice and Holly Stride also found the net as all the goals arrived in the first half.

St Ives 2nds maintained their Division Three North-West promotion challenge with a thumping derby victory. Sally King proved to be a goal-queen with six goals in an 8-0 drubbing as Anna Banks and Natalie Gaunt also struck.

The 3rds also saw off Huntingdon opponents, beating that club’s 2nds 4-1 to remain top of Division Four North-West (South). Laura Beedles (2), Hannah King and Emily Skidmore did the scoring.

St Neots Ladies ended their 2015 fixtures in winning fashion as well. Mary Owen, Amy Wilkinson and Kelly Bingham struck in a 3-0 win against Long Sutton in Division Two North-West, but the 3rds went down 2-1 at Newmarket 3rds in Division Four North-West (South).

St Neots 2nds were successful in Division Three of the Five Counties League. China Saywell and Kate Clark scored at one end while goalkeeper Rhiannon Draper saved a penalty flick at the other as they triumphed 2-1 at Bedford 4ths.

Darren Coles struck for the fifth time in three games as St Neots Men’s 1sts were beaten 3-2 at Cambridge University 3rds in Division Three North-West of the East Men’s League. Brett Nunn also found the net.

St Neots 2nds were made to sweat before extending their 100 per cent record to 12 matches.

The Division Five North-West table-toppers went behind to Cambridge South 4ths before Fin Hay, man-of-the-match Chris Butterworth and captain Danny Stevenson earned a 3-1 success.

Injured Mark Harrison was rewarded for playing on through the pain barrier with two goals for St Neots 4ths. Sam Setchell also struck as they saw off City of Peterborough 9ths 3-1 to stay second in Division Six North-West (South).

The 5ths were fired to victory by two members of the same family at that level. Father Paul Lawman struck twice and son Sam hit the other goal in a 3-2 triumph against Cambridge South 3rds.

But St Neots 3rds lost 5-0 to unbeaten leaders City of Peterborough 8ths.

Alex Grange’s double fired struggling St Ives Men’s 2nds to a welcome 2-0 win at Bourne Deeping 2nds in Division Three North-West.

The 5ths were the club’s only other successful men’s side, ending a nine-month wait for a home win by beating Ely City 3rds 3-0 in Division Six North-West (South).

St Ives 1sts were denied a first win of the Division Two North campaign by a late equaliser. The bottom side had to settle for a 2-2 draw at Sudbury after twice leading through Rory Mooney and Alex Prestage goals.

The season resumes on January 9.
