HUNTINGDON’S Steven Walker achieved the British Canoe Union four-star Kayak White Water River Leader award at the weekend.
The 19-year-old, who paddles with Huntingdon Canoe Club, got the award after a performance assessment in North Wales.
He was assessed on personal paddling skills, river leadership, risk assessment and practical application of safety and rescue techniques.
And he will be putting those skills to good use this coming weekend, when he leads a small group from the club, paddling the River Tryweryn in North Wales.
