Captain Dan Sherlock steered Needingworth to a first win of the Cambs Senior League season.

The skipper hit an unbeaten 78 in a six-wicket triumph at Wisbech 2nds in Division One last Saturday.

Tim Webb impressed with the ball, taking 4-25 as the hosts reached 198-5, but Sherlock’s fine knock ensured Needingworth eased to victory with just under six overs to spare.

Opener Lee Smith also contributed 47 to the successful reply as he fell just short of a half-century.

Needingworth 2nds also tasted success for the first time in 2018 last Saturday.

Mark Sirot-Smith (80no) and Moody Yakub (4-33) were the star performers in a 35-run victory against Longstanton Grasshoppers in Division Three North of the Cambs Junior League.

Sirot-Smith batted throughout the local side’s innings to help them to 175-8 before the visitors were dismissed for 140.

Bluntisham tasted success in a Cambs Junior League clash featuring two centuries.

The local side held off previously unbeaten Cottenham by 20 runs in a high-scoring showdown.

Darren Fordham was the star batsman for Bluntisham with a big-hitting 104 – which featured 16 fours and three sixes – off just 92 balls.

Steve Dighton (59) and Harvey Bullin (50) also added half-centuries as their side amassed 245-7 before Bullin bagged 3-19 as the visitors were removed for 225.

Rory Fenton claimed the prized wicket of Matt Talaga, who provided 130 of the Cottenham runs.

Bottom side St Ives 2nds were thumped by 268 runs at Milton at that level. They were skittled for 51 after the home side piled up 319-5.

Marc Petzer carried his bat to lead Yelling to a first Division One South victory of the summer.

He contributed an unbeaten 51 in a successful chase as Thriplow 2nds were seen off by six wickets.

Dominic Ascroft-Walker and Thumelan Pachiappan claimed two wickets apiece as Yelling restricted their visitors to 141-7 and they had no trouble in easing to glory.

The presence of first-team captain Jason Redinger proved decisive as Kimbolton 2nds continued their perfect Division Four North start. The South African hit an unbeaten 109 to secure a three-wicket triumph at Wisbech 4ths.
