Lee Milton believes his first full season as a manager can be a memorable one.
The Huntingdon United boss has seen his new-look squad start the Cambs League Division 1B campaign with a bang.
They have recorded back-to-back 4-0 successes - the second of which arrived in a local derby last Saturday against St Ives Rangers.
Two of Milton’s new recruits - former non-league stars Jamie Blackwell and Carl Foreman - were among the goalscorers. Blackwell’s brother, Darren, and last season’s top-scorer, Dom Everett, also found the net.
Milton said: “We’ve made some good additions to the squad and started the season well.
“It looks like being a competitive division featuring a lot of local sides, but it would be ideal if we could challenge for promotion.”
Newly-promoted Houghton & Wyton have also started with a bang at this level. Big signing Will Fordham hit a hat-trick as they thumped Manea 6-1 last Saturday.
Former Houghton & Wyton striker Bozo Saso helped his new club, Alconbury, record their first win. He hit one of the goals in a 3-1 success against Littleport.
Needingworth claimed local bragging rights in Kershaw Senior B Division as they breezed to a 6-0 success at Bluntisham Rangers.
It was a victory lit up by a seven-minute hat-trick from Michael Thompson which included an overhead kick.
Sean Olley hit the only goal as Godmanchester Rovers Reserves beat Buckden in another all-local affair at that level.
AFC Barley Mow sampled their first success of the Division 2B season. Player-boss Sean Sweeney, Adam Lacey and Jamie Waterworth provided the goals in a 3-2 win at Soham United Reserves.
And there was a first triumph for the newly-formed Ramsey Pavilion side at the same level. Matthew Brading, Jamie Hurst, Stephen Hurst, Kyle McPartlin and Jamie Perry all found the net as they triumphed 5-3 at Wisbech St Mary A.
