JONATHAN Railton had a difficult weekend as a result of continuing brake problems at the seventh round of the 2012 Metzeler National Superstock championship at Oulton Park in Cheshire.

The Grafham racer was unable to capitalize on his strong qualifying performance which saw him post his fastest ever lap time around the very demanding circuit and secure 12th position on the grid. This was some achievement, as almost 50 riders were entered for the event, with fractions of a second covering the first 20 riders, and only 38 going through to the race.

But, despite modifications to eliminate brake fade during the race - following difficulties at the previous round at Knockhill - the problem returned and prevented Railton any further progress up the field.

“As the race progressed he had to give way to a few of his pursuers as he could not maintain his qualifying pace,” said his father David Railton.

Railton eventually finished in 18th but his team are hoping to resolve the problem before the next round of the championship which will be at the Brands Hatch over the weekend of July 21-22.
