Hot St Ives prospect Bradley Smith hopes some big changes will lead to a big performance this Saturday night.

The 19-year-old lightweight is out to extend his unbeaten record when he faces Andy Harris at the York Hall in London in his fourth professional outing.

While a four-round contest against a journeyman who has lost 32 of his 36 outings might not appear to be a major challenge, it certainly ranks as an important outing for Smith.

And he cannot afford to make the same mistake that his close friend and fellow Hunts warrior, Tommy Martin, did against the same opponent.

Smith, who is now back training at the big Limehouse gym in London along with Martin, said: “The chance to train in London again was too good to turn down. I popped down for a session with Tommy and it went from there.

“It is something I tried in the past, but I didn’t have the money to keep going. I’ve got better financial backing now thanks to some great sponsors like Coverspan and Jacksy.

“I’ve been back here for just under four weeks and I can already feel the benefit. The facilities are second to none and I’ve not got the distractions I have back home.

“I’m fully focused on training and on doing a job in the ring against a guy who will be a lot tougher than his record might suggest.

“He dropped Tommy earlier in his career and he has also been in there with Luke Campbell, but I want another KO on my record before moving on.

“If everything goes to plan, this will be my last four-round fight and I can step up to six going forward.”

Smith might no longer be training locally, but he expects an army of more than 100 Hunts fight fans to be cheering him on at the York Hall.

All three of Smith’s previous pro outings have been at the Bethnal Green venue during the past 10 months.

He beat Ivailo Boyanov in his debut last July before following up with another points success against Alec Bazza. Smith then stopped Croatian opponent Anto Nakic in March.
