Budding talent Mack May stole the show at the Huntingdonshire Bowling Federation indoor finals last weekend.

The 13-year-old became the youngest-ever winner of the county Under 25 singles crown when producing a giant-killing success over former national champion Ed Elmore.

Buckden bowler May, also a promising young cricketer who has represented Hunts in his age group, beat his Warboys rival 21-16 in one of the 11 showpiece clashes to be staged at Huntingdon IBC during two days of terrific competition.

There were plenty of multiple winners, including former world indoor singles champion Nicky Brett, and his 16-year-old daughter, Chloe.

The Warboys duo teamed up to land the mixed pairs crown by thrashing Sophie Purell (Needingworth) and Steve Farrant (Warboys) 25-1.

Brett snr also tasted success in the men's pairs (along with his national title-winning partner Lindsay Swannell), and they were then joined by another Warboys clubmate, Lewis Baker, for a rinks victory.

Swannell and Baker also starred in the successful mixed rinks trio along with Heather McKillop, of Houghton & Wyton. Both Bretts, and Elmore, were on the losing team in that clash.

Chloe Brett enjoyed success without her father at her side as she formed part of the triumphant Ladies rinks outfit along with England international Rebecca Moorbey (St Neots) and Juliet May (Buckden). They beat Needingworth duo Purell and Sue Worthington, and Glenys Cousins, of St Ives, 21-11.

Chloe Brett also featured in another final defeat when she and Karen Leader (Sawtry) went down 20-14 to the St Ives double-act of Jane Baldwin and Kathy Snitch.

That success formed part of a hat-trick of honours for Baldwin, who also claimed an individual double.

She beat Moorbey 21-19 in the singles and followed up with a 21-11 triumph against Carole Hickey (Houghton & Wyton) in the senior singles.

The flagship men's singles crown went to Farrant, who beat Hayden Moorbey (Buckden), while Fenstanton player Dennis Weston saw off former national champion David Peak (Hemingford) in the senior version.

The winners will now represent Hunts in the English Bowling Federation finals at Newark.
