The home side dominated for the first half hour with Ryan Francis missing a good chance on 20 minutes before Wanderers took the lead through Derek Simmonds - who was in a clear offside position when he received the ball.

Simmonds doubled his tally just before the break after Billy Tumlety had let the ball squirm under his legs and Adrian Chester netted after the hour mark with a shot that Town keeper Dave Beanie should have saved.

Swannell said: "It sounds strange to say but we played well and it was only mistakes at either end that did for us.

"Everyone has said the same thing - my chairman, the referee and their manager - no-one can understand how we didn't win the game."
