MICK and Lynn Burdett were the winners of St Ives Golf Club’s Bader Cup qualifier on Saturday – and will now take part in the regional finals of the national Greensomes Stableford competition at Ely City on August 28.
There were 14 pairs competing at St Ives with organisers Brian and Kathy Mason coming second. If the Burdetts win the regional final, they will go through to the national final of the competition, which will be held in Portugal in November. The Bader Cup qualifier was St Ives’ first mixed competition of the season.
Meanwhile, Friday the 13th was not an unlucky day for St Neots Golf Club’s ladies as they continued their excellent run in the Mail on Sunday Golf Classic.
St Neots beat Aspley Guise & Woburn Sands 3-2 in the fourth round of the competition. The team consisted of Chris Albon, Sue Cook, Anne Chandler, Mary Thompson and Rosemary Farrow.
In the second round of the Daily Mail Foursomes competition against Lakeside Lodge, there was a 7-5 win for Aldon and Jane Paine.
