It was a case of six of the best for Hunts AC veteran Richard Phelan at the Southern and Eastern Counties Indoor Athletics Championships last weekend.

Phelan helped himself to half-a-dozen medals, and set two new regional records, in the M55 category at Lee Valley, in London.

Phelan did the Southern/Eastern double in the long jump with a 5.03m leap, which added four centimetres to the previous Eastern record with had stood for a decade.

He was also spring-heeled when collecting a high-jump double with a terrific 1.50m effort that added 17 centimetres to the old Eastern best.

And there was yet more delight for Phelan as he added both gold medals in the triple jump to his collection by soaring out to 10.46m.

Phelan was single-handedly responsible for almost half of the Hunts AC haul of 13 medals.

Clubmate Sandra Pedley also toasted a double as she bagged both Southern and Eastern golds in the W50 pole vault with a 1.93m clearance.

Neil Carrington’s 11.07m leap in the veteran men’s triple jump earned him Eastern gold, Southern silver and an improvement to his own club record.

Wayne DuBose took Eastern gold and Southern silver with a 1.29m effort in the high jump at M60 level. It also set a new Eastern Counties championship record indoors.

Geoff Brewster completed the medal tally by taking an 800m bronze in the M55 section in 2:26.6

Georgia Hime produced a fine performance by finishing as third female in the Olympic Park 10k.

The Hunts AC talent was 38th overall in a field of more than 700 runners for the London event.

Her time of 40:39 is a new club record, knocking 20 seconds off Davina Rutledge’s previous best set in 2008.

Huntingdon BRJ provided the first four finishers in the latest Cambridge Junior Parkrun.

James Orrell (14) took victory at a muddy Milton Park, with clubmate Ellie Loosley (10) coming home second.

Brothers Keelan (13) and Layton Duffy (11) finished third and fourth respectively.
