Huntingdonshire clubs enjoyed success at junior and senior levels in the second round of the Frostbite Friendly League.

There was a local clean sweep in the junior standings as Hunts AC led home Riverside Runners and Huntingdon BRJ at Nene Park in Peterborough last Sunday.

Hunts AC provided the individual winner of the one-and-a-half mile contest as Angus Lawrence sped clear in a time of 8.09. They also boasted the first female finisher – Issy Wilkins in 8.57 which earned 17th spot overall.

Their other scoring runners were Casper Hiscock (3rd, 8.18), Seb Darnell (10th, 8.45) and Howard Croft (11th, 8.49).

Callum Nicholson took second spot for Riverside in 8.14 as the St Neots club occupied the same position overall. Joe Wison (13th, 8.52), Elijah McDonnel (20th, 9.02), Jamie Peters (22nd 9.15) and Scarlet Dalrymple (38th, 9.35) also scored for Riverside.

James Orrell (8.25) was the leading BRJ finisher in fourth place. Keelan Duffy (12th, 8.51), Liam Conway (16th, 8.55), Jeff Newham (23rd, 9.15) and Lauren Elliott (47th, 9.42) helped them to third in the team placings.

Riverside enjoyed team success at senior level with a fine effort spearheaded by individual runner-up Michael Taylor. He completed the five-mile test in 27.19 while Jess Williams enjoyed an excellent debut in the event by being the first lady to finish in 32.03. She was 56th overall.

The club’s other scoring runners were Freddie Minney (12th, 29.23), Alan Turnbull (13th, 29.24), Gary Evans (16th, 29.33), Kurt Sanders (21st, 29.58), Neil Shorten (26th, 30.09), Rodrigo Santos (27th, 30.21), Caroline Brooks (113th, 34.12) and Ali Cooper (205th, 37.00).

Hunts AC were third at senior level with Dave Connell the pick of their runners in eighth place with a time of 28.32. Ty Farrer (10th, 29.10), Nick Osborn (17th, 29.35), Tom Walker (24th, 30.05), Simon Margot (39th, 30.58), Gair Matthews (52nd, 32.01), Sean Barker (55th, 32.03), Polly Smith (172nd, 36.02), Caroline King (176th, 36.08) and Kelly Crawford (177th, 36.13) completed the scoring team.

Huntingdon BRJ finished sixth with David Hudson their leading performer. He took sixth place in 27.55. Their remaining scorers were Liam Tharme (30th, 30.26), Rob Farrant (42nd, 31.22), Cy Gearing (43rd, 31.32, Harrison Evans (44th, 31.34), Reece Millard (79th, 32.59), Mark Elliott (81st, 33.04), Shelley Duffy (134th, 34.51), Melanie Whiffin (215th, 37.20), Sarah Hall (280th, 39.12).

Hunts AC host the third round of the series at Hinchingbrooke Country Park on December 10.
