st ives town: Jez Hall is frustrated with the stop-start way this season has developed – because of the bad weather. But, for once, it isn’t just the Saints that have been hit by postponements. “It has been the same for everyone,” he told The Hunts Post.

On Tuesday night, the Saints were due to play Kettering Town in Northamptonshire, but that game was also postponed.

Saturday’s game at Potters Bar Town is now where the club will hope to restart its season.

“It has been a weird six weeks,” said the club’s co-manager. “But it has been the same for everybody.

“We have had a couple of games but you can’t get any consistency. It has been so stop-start.”

St Ives drew 3-3 with Marlow on Saturday, January 25 – but two more recent games, against Chertsey Town and Uxbridge, have been called off.

Before that there were two defeats (4-2 at home to Aylesbury United on Jaunary 14) and 2-1 away at Dunstable Town (February 11) and their last win came on December 28 against Ashford Town, who they beat 4-0. You can see why Hall is frustrated.

At least St Ives can welcome back Jordan Lambert, Jimmy Dean and David Cobb – and they have new loan signings Ashley White, Matt Walters (both Histon) and Cambridge United centre back Mitchell Hancock at the ready.

But winger Stuart Cobb, after two and a half seasons, has left the club to re-join Wisbech Town.

Meanwhile, St Ives fans and staff got together on Saturday for a ‘working party’ session at the club’s ProEdge Westwood Road Stadium. At least Saturday wasn’t completely wasted.
