HAJAC Winter League

THIS year's winter teams of six series started on Sunday with a match on the Twenty Foot at March.

Nine teams took part and, considering how cold the weather was, results were extremely good.

The winning team on the day were Stanjay Special, quite an achievement with the majority of the first team now practicing for the winter league semi-final at Gold Valley.

Stanjay Special provided the first two in the match which was won by Dave Rawlins with 8lb 91/2 oz all of small fish, with Ricky Young an excellent second with 7lb 13oz, just one ounce ahead of Hotrods Neil Adcock.

Peterborough's Mick Parkinson included a tench in his fourth placed weight.

Teamwise, Stanjay Special finished one place ahead of Browning Hotrods with Wades Gold and Peterborough equal third.

RESULT: 1 Dave Rawlins, VDE Stanjay Special 8lb 9 1/2 oz, 2 Ricky Young, VDE Stanjay Special 7lb 13oz, 3 Neil Adcock, Browning Hotrods 7lb 12oz, 4 Mick Parkinson, Peterborough 7lb 6 1/2 oz, 5 Chris Hardman, Wades Gold 7lb 5oz.

Teams: 1 VDE Stanjay Special 20pts, 2 Browning Hotrods 21pts, 3 = Peterborough and Wades Gold 24pts.

Stanjay Saturday Open

THERE was a small field of anglers on Saturday and it was decided to fish Mill Lode. The match was won by Ian Benton from the Mill steps, just three ounces ahead of Paul Kilby, still trying to catch Stan and retain his 'King of the Rec' title.

Paul, despite winning the last three matches, is still behind Stan but could catch him.

RESULT: 1 Ian Benton, VDE Stanjay MG 3lb 7oz, 2 Paul Kilby, Ramsey 3lb 3 1/2 oz, 3 Mark Dickerson, St Neots 10 1/2 oz.

Ramsey AS

THE anglers present decided not to break the ice at Ramsey St Marys and instead fished at Factory Bank.

The fish were very small and weights low. The match was won by Paul Kilby, who caught more than 100 fish for his 2lb 4 1/2 oz. Keith Rayment was second and Vern Edgley third.

RESULT: 1 Paul Kilby 2lb 4 1/2 oz, 2 Keith Rayment 1lb 14oz, 3 Vern Edgley 1lb 12oz.

Lawn Farm

THE Golden Rod Open Matches are taking place every Tuesday, with the older anglers showing remarkable keenness, regardless of how cold the weather is.

Last week 14 fished after breaking the ice, with St Neots duo Keith West and Chris Young finishing first and second ahead of Mack McFiggins.

RESULT: 1 Keith West, St Neots 10lb 10oz, 2 Chris Young, St Neots 3lb 8oz, 3 Mack McFiggins, Riseley 2lb.

There are some dates from Lawn Farm for future events.
