Brian Gibson, winner of the Wednesday Series for the last two years had to settle for second spot this time with Stan Binge third with a very close finish for fourth with Jason Roslyn just beating Steve Ashwell by one point.

OVER 62lbs of fish were in winner Steve Ashwell's net on Saturday and Ian Benton took second with more than 50lb. Many of the anglers recorded good weights with Gary Goodyear taking the small fish prize and Stan Binge retaining his overall points lead in the series.

ANGLERS used the Welland Championships as a practice match for this Sunday's fifth round of the King of the Fens. With many anglers struggling to find fish it was Hotrods' Stuart Northrop from St Neots who took the honours, catching 36lb 5oz of skimmers to finish ahead of Peterborough's Paul Green.

ANGLER Mark Richardson could only manage second to John Hurley in Saturday's King of the Pond qualifier but still took a place in next month's final, in which Hurley had already secured his place.

ROOKERY Waters yielded great weights for the Millview OAP open match on Magpie Lake last Wednesday. Sam Wellens took top spot with Roger Abbott second and Pete Norris third.
