King of the Fens

THE third round of the King of the Fens league was fished on Sunday on the wide Welland near Spalding.

On a cool day for July, with the colour dropping out of the water, weights were patchy but the match was won by Mark Pollard, fishing for Fox Match Stanjay from the end peg with 12lb 3oz of skimmers on pinkie with March's Jon Young in second.

Team-wise, it was the closest match yet with every point counting and only four points covering the top four teams on the day. Winners on the day were the Bourn A team, with Wades second, Van Den Eynde in third and our Stanjay team in fourth - just enough to stay on top of the league by one point with two rounds to go.
