Tydd Gote Open Match NEXT Sunday sees the final match in this inaugural summer series, which has been a great success despite the weather never being kind on the match Sundays. Tydd Gote, near Wisbech, is the venue and last Sunday an open match was held there. The normally-fancied pegs in the middle of the stretch did not fish and it was series organiser John Spalton whose one big bream gave him the advantage over the small fish weights in the other places. RESULT: 1 John Spalton Van Den Eynde 13lb 2oz, 2 Rob Lincoln Maver Bagem 7lb 6oz, 3 Brian Gibson Fox Match Stanjay 7lb 4oz, 4 Jon Hazelden Browning Hotrods 6lb 7oz. Cromwell Lake THE penultimate Little and Large series match took place on Saturday, with Keith Ellington - definitely the man to beat on the venue at the moment - again the winner. Keith weighed in 44lb 12oz from peg 26 to finish ahead of Vince Hull, in peg nine, who weighed 33lb 9oz and also took the \u00A350 Golden Peg fund. Stan, who was equal first with Keith on points, is leading the series with just this week's match to go. RESULT: 1 Keith Ellington 44lb 12oz, 2 Vince Hull 33lb 9oz. n Keith also won last Wednesday's evening sweepstake despite arriving late after being held up in traffic. Grahams Pond SATURDAY'S King of the Pond qualifier was fished in heavy rain, with many anglers planning to continue fishing through the night in a 24-hour match. Tony James, with a 6lb carp caught with just three minutes to go, won the Saturday match and qualified for next month's final. Daniel De Grussa, who had led throughout, was left in second place. The 24-hour event then continued in worsening weather, with the anglers fortified by hot meals and drinks. A total of \u00A3300 was raised for St Johns Ambulance (Huntingdon Cadets) - thanks to those who braved the conditions, although Graham was a little disappointed with five anglers booked in who failed to appear.
