RAMSEY AS

RAMSEY St Marys, one of the later drains to be totally ice-free, had a good colour and fished very well for Sunday’s Open match.

The top two places went to brothers Andrew and Paul Kilby. Andrew was the winner with 17lb 2 � oz from peg four.

His catch included three tench and three more were lost. The third one hooked on the final whistle made the difference and gave him the win. His brother Paul was second from peg six with all small fish and Ivan Steels was third from peg one.

RESULT: 1. Andrew Kilby 17lb 2 � oz; 2. Paul Kilby 13lb 15oz; 3. Ivan Steels 8lb 8oz; 4. Keith Rayment 6lb 8oz.

BENWICK AC

THE first club match for weeks was fished in the village on Sunday. Jon Hazelden was the winner with 10lb 15oz ahead of several good weights caught on seed.

RESULT: 1. Jon Hazelden 10lb 15oz; 2. Roger Denson 6lb 10oz; 3. Dave Jarrett 5lb 3oz; 4. Tony Ingram 5lb 2oz; 5. Kevin Gaunt 5lb.

MARCH OPEN MATCH

WITH the Old Nene having a good colour and flow there were some very good weights of roach and skimmers.

Danny Mason was the winner with 23lb 7oz from the third peg above the health centre bridge.

The top five weights were all pretty close with several others of 20 pounds plus.

LAWN FARM

Last week’s golden rod match was a silver fish-only match and was fished on Willow Lake. The winner was Chris Young with 6lb 13oz of perch and skimmers caught on maggot. Keith West and Dave Lack were equal second.

RAF MATCH – TOWNSEND FISHERY

THE RAF fished at Townsend fishery at Upwell last Wednesday, one of the first days after the ice melted.

Catching was difficult with Ray Torrington winning with 32lb 6oz double the weight of second-placed Pete Lambdin.

RESULT: 1 Ray Torrington Individual 32lb 6oz; 2. Pete Lambdin Old Lag 18lb 12oz; 3. Chris Saunders RAF Wyton B 12lb; 4. Roy Whincup Fox Match Stanjay.

RAF Marham were the winning team.

MEMORIAL MATCH

MANY readers will remember popular angler Martin Howard, who died so tragically and suddenly last spring.

One of his favourite venues was Decoy Lakes and friend and teammate Lee Kendall is organising a special match in his memory on Bank Holiday Monday, May 31.
