The local lads were put into bat at Worlington CC on Tuesday night, but responded by piling up 143-4 with Charles (48) and Vaseeharan (40no) providing the bulk of the runs. And they produced a fine bowling and fielding performance to close out an 82-run success by dismissing their hosts for 61. Daniel Wells returned the fine figures of 4-8. That was the Hunts lads second outing in the space of three days after they slipped to a 25-run defeat at the hands of Cambridgeshire in a low-scoring tussle at Eaton Socon last Sunday. Wells (3-3) and Luke Ashwell (3-21) impressed as Cambridgeshire were restricted to 85, but Huntingdon could manage just 60 in reply. Ashwell (13) and fellow Eaton Socon player Jacob Watling (10) were the highest scorers. Hunts Under 11s were edged out by two wickets in a low-scoring thriller by Bedfordshire at Steppingley. Only Oliver Ford managed to reach 20 as Hunts struggled with the bat and were bowled out for 116. But the Hunts bowlers got their side into a strong position with Sam Noble and Rohan Kundaje both taking two wickets before Bedfordshires ninth-wicket pair guided the hosts to victory. Hunts Under 15s completed a double over neighbours Cambridgeshire in Group 3B of the ECB County Cup thanks to a 78-run success at Godmanchester last Sunday. Pat Harrington top-scored with 79 as Hunts reached 173 before dismissing the visitors for just 95 in reply. Opening bowler James Taylor had Cambridgeshire in trouble early on as he claimed 3-7 while Joseph Purse took 2-6 and James Dean managed 2-28. Taylor was again in fine form the following night when helping his Eaton Socon club side reach the final of the Hunts Under 15 Cup. He returned the sparkling figures of 4-5 and also hit an unbeaten 32 as Eaton Socon thrashed Nassington by 10 wickets. Joe Watling hit an unbeaten half-century as the local side breezed past their target of 98. Eaton Socon now host Peterborough Town in the county showpiece tomorrow night (Friday) with the winners of that clash going on to face the Northamptonshire champions on Sunday.
