SWIMMERS from First Strokes Godmanchester continue to prove themselves at a high level with some outstanding results in the recent Cambridge Open held at the Parkside pool in the city.

Leading the way this time was Alec Bird, who was swimming in his first Open for his new club. He won the club’s first gold medal of the day in the boys’ 11-year-old 100 metre breaststroke, and then followed that up with a silver medal in the 50 metre breaststroke.

Also in the medals was 10-year-old Matthew Titman, who bagged silver medals in the 200 metre freestyle and the 200 metre individual medley, the first time he had swum in that event. Titman also won a bronze medal in the 50 metre backstroke.

Other top swims were achieved by Rebecca Keene (fourth in the girls’ 10-year-old 50m freestyle), Anna Baird (Sixth in both the girls’ 13-year-old 50m and 100m breaststroke), Julia Gillman (seventh in girls’ 14-year-old 100m breaststroke), Kerry Baird (eighth in the girls’ 12-year-old 50m freestyle), and Ellie Rogers (eighth in the girls’ 12-year-old 50m butterfly.)
