Huntingdon I beat Waresley II

by 155 runs

HAVING won the toss and decided to bat, Huntingdon started their innings well.

Openers Usman Khan and Naveed Ahmed on 39 and 51 respectively, with Nomi Khan (28) and Philip Wright (27), making major contributions.

The Waresley bowling attack struggled to contain the Huntingdon batsmen, with Pat Ellerbeck's 3-43 being the best figures.

After Huntingdon declared at 206 after 45 overs, Waresley struggled from the start, with openers Nick Greenfield and Jamie Fensome going for eight and four respectively.

Godmanchester drew with Clacton

GODMANCHESTER held on for a draw against Clacton in their second home match of the season.

The visitors elected to bat and things started well for Godmanchetser when they took two early wickets.

Left-arm seamer Elliott Baldwin dismissed Renee Grosvenor for four, while David Wade took the wicket of Chris Swallow, his first for the club.

Martin Cull and Indika De Seram accumlated the runs for Clacton, however, and declared at 290 for 5.

With no Godmanchester bowler having taken more than one wicket, things got no better as Clacton exposed the relative inexperience of the home batting line-up.

With only 30 runs on the board, three Godmanchester batsmen were back in the pavilion.

Ollie Huggins made 49 runs and Nathan Pearce 31 to rescue the situation but further wickets fell and only Bevis Moynan looked comfortable against a controlled bowling attack.

When Moynan's wicket fell for 15, defeat looked inevitable. However, tail-ender Baldwin batted in disciplined style for 10 overs to register 21 not out, while at the other end Wade held on for an unbeaten three to secure the game.

Smith Barry Junior Cup Round One

Hilton beat Alconbury by 49 runs

HILTON were put into bat, making a faltering start as they lost half of their wickets for only 37 runs, due mainly to some tight bowling and fielding.

Tuddy Frost picked up the pace for Hilton, hitting seven sixes and six fours on his way to making a valuable 75.

Adrian Darlow contributed 39 as he and Frost shared a partnership of 80 to push the score to 158.

Alconbury lost two early wickets but looked to have weathered the storm.

Good stroke play from Alexander S and regular boundaries from A Blake had Alconbury on their way to making the target, but a collapse in the face of Hilton's strike bowlers Ian Jacobs and Darlow ensued.

In a three-over spell, Jacobs took four wickets for three runs, including a hat-trick.

Darlow registered figures of three wickets for 28 runs off 12 overs, including seven maidens, as Hilton went on to win.
