BRAMPTON Junior School's Kwik Cricket team lost out by a single run in the final of a Huntingdonshire tournament.

A thrilling finale at Hinchingbrooke saw the Hunts side just lose out to Peterborough school The Beeches after winning all of their group stage games.

The side won the 'Most Sporting Team' award as voted for by the other teams, and Christian Le picked up the player of the tournament award.

The school also qualified to represent Huntingdonshire along with The Beeches in the Eastern Region Kwik Cricket tournament - being played as The Hunts Post went to press.

Brampton practised their cricket skills as part of the Chance to Shine initiative from the England and Wales Cricket Board.

Teacher Sian Hughes said: "The team has done superbly well in the tournaments; they are a great team to work with and have done themselves proud. They were delighted to win the sporting award at Hinchingbrooke and have been looking forward to representing their county this week.
