ABBOTSLEY Golf Club members journeyed to St Mellion in Cornwall to compete for the Annual Crown Golf Claret Jug, and secured the runners-up spot against strong competition.
The team event is played annually between all of the Crown Golf Golf Clubs in England, and with 22 teams involved, competition was always going to be tough. However, the Abbotsley team of Ladies' captain Ali Thornhill, vice-captain Paula Parker, club captain Pete Nelson and men's vice-captain Ady Northfield performed with distinction.
The team were rewarded with second place for their combined efforts, and senior England Ladies golfer Parker had the longest drive of the day on the 7th hole.
